Natural Anti-Anxiety

Face the Fear – The Best Natural Anti Anxiety Technique

If you are experiencing anxiety in relation to a specific fear, you need to face it head-on! Actually facing and dealing with that fear head on can help to dissipate your anxiety.

The things that we fear the most are usually much worse in our mind than they are in reality. Tweet This!

If you are fearing talking to a certain person about something or doing a specific task, STOP right now.  Think about it. The anxiety that you are enduring about the thing you need to do may be worse than just doing it and having it be over.

You can force yourself to face your fears head on.   When you do, you become better equipped to deal with similar situations in the future.

Constantly hiding from everything that you fear will never help you grow or become less fearful.

Those things will still exist, and when you face them, you learn how to handle them.  You won’t have to fear them any longer. This makes facing your fears one of the very best natural anti-anxiety techniques. And certainly one of best home remedies for anxiety that you can help yourself with.

Change What You Can, Accept What You Cannot – Best Natural Anxiety Relief Formula

The Serenity Prayer has great advice for those who regularly suffer from anxiety.

Learning to recognize what you do have power over (usually just yourself and your immediate surroundings), is step #1.  Next step: learning to accept the things that you do not have power over (other people and most of the world).  Just following these 2 steps can bring you a huge amount of peace.

Why spend time worrying about things you cannot change and cannot even influence?  Why spend a lot of time worrying about things that you will never be able to fix?

This will only make your life harder.

Accepting that there are things you cannot control and just letting go of those things can make your life much, much easier.

Schedule Time to Relax Or Use Natural Anti Anxiety Products

If you are a busy woman, as most of us women professionals  are, you probably rarely find time to actually sit and just relax.

Your schedule is too hectic, too busy.

Instead of worrying about whether or not you will ever have time just to relax, you can actively make time to relax, by making it a part of your schedule.

As soon as work is over and you have eaten dinner, make some time in your schedule to just sit, relax, and do something you love. If you have children that dominate your evenings, you might need to choose a later time.

It is very important that you do not allow chores or work to spill over into this time.

Guard this time and really make it yours, even if that means banishing your family from the house or taking over their schedules so they have free time to spend with you.

Schedule Time to Pray and Meditate For Some Anxiety Relief

If you do not currently take time to pray and meditate, you are missing out on one of the biggest and best natural anti-anxiety techniques.

Prayer is an excellent opportunity to unload your cares and worries to a higher power. Tweet This!

Likewise, meditation is a great way to focus your mind, wipe away negative or anxiety-ridden thoughts, and return yourself to center.

Taking the time to meditate, whether you do it for just a few minutes or for an entire hour, is one of the best ways to deal with stress and anxiety.

People you regularly meditate are more mindful and less worried—two things we’d all like to be.

Indulge in Self-Care And Get Great Natural Anti Anxiety Remedies

Taking care of yourself is one of the most important aspects of not just banishing anxiety, but also just being a well-rounded, centered person.

Many women professionals and women business owners completely abandon self-care to take care of loved ones and/or attend to their careers, their businesses, and their employees.

This can be very dangerous, not just for your physical body, but for your mental state.

If you haven’t been taking care of yourself, it’s time to start.

Exercise regularly. Find an activity that gets your heart pumping and do it as often as is possible.

Eat a healthy diet of food that you love. And don’t forget to sleep. Schedule sleep, if you have to.

It is just as important as exercise and a healthy diet, so do not skimp on sleep.

Reading this blog made me realize just how important it really is to schedule time into my day to relax. I rush, rush, rush around all day and collapse in exhaustion at the end of it, and at no point in there did I ever relax! I am going to start making a concerted effort to set aside some sacred me time to recharge. I have been feeling so down lately and it is because I have not been taking care of myself. I have sacrificed self-care in favour of caring for everyone else, and I know that it is time to stop. Starting today I am renewing my commitment to taking better care of myself. Thank you, Darlene!

    1. Darlene Berkel says:

You’re welcome Charlotte. What you said resonates with so many women. We rush, Rush, RUSH around all day with a million things to do. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months and before we know it we are drained, depleted, and depressed. That’s what burnout looks and feels like. I’ve been there. It’s so much better for ourselves and for all those we love and care for, that we balance “self care” with “everyone else care”. Self care can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. If all you have is 15 minutes ( and who does not have 15 minutes??), then take that time to listen to some soothing music, or to take a walk around the block, or to brew yourself a cup of chamomile tea and sit on your porch to watch the sunset, or the birds. That 15 minutes is for YOU!

  2. Kelly Sardatheon says:

I really want to set aside fifteen minutes every morning to pray and meditate. There have been times in my life where I have been more faithful to do this, and I remember it really helping me go through my day feeling more peaceful and settled, but ever since the birth of my daughter I wake up when she does and just leap into the day. Very quickly things get super chaotic and I feel stressed. It is exhausting. I think sacrificing a little bit of sleep, (though that is in pretty short supply too!) to pray and meditate each morning will really help me to feel more together and less stressed. Thanks for the reminder.

    1. Darlene Berkel says:

Hi Kelly, if you build prayer and meditation into you daily routine and schedule, you should not have to sacrifice any sleep. Sleep is crucial for stress-resilience, and you need to make sure and get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each day. I know that can be a serious challenge for most working moms, but its doable. So you goal is to go to bed by 10 PM every night, and set your alarm for 5:15 AM. ( That gives you 15 minutes to snooze….LOL). That’s 7 hours of sleep. Then you reserve 10-15 minutes and “quiet time” upon awaking for prayer and meditation. If you plan and prepare, its actually easier than you may think.

  3. Holland Sieger says:

Wow Darlene, powerful blog. I really struggle with anxiety and worrying about things constantly. I am married to a man who NEVER worries about anything, even when maybe it is warranted. I think I compensate for that a little by worrying about everything, but it is so unhealthy for me. I feel stressed basically all of the time. I realized that I worry about the silliest things and most of it never happens. What I have decided to do after reading your blog is to pray and meditate whenever I feel a worry start to make me anxious. I am going to close my eyes and replace the worry with some positive images and try to let it go if there is nothing I can do to take action on it. Thanks, Darlene for giving me some steps to (hopefully!) overcome my anxiety.

    1. Darlene Berkel says:

Hi Holland, sorry to hear about your battle with anxiety. Journaling and writing things down is a great remedy for anxiety. I teach that in my self study course and I give you specific assignments for 30 days. When you feel anxious, try writing down what is causing that anxious feeling. But don’t stop there. Write down the worse thing that can happen and write one or two things you can do cope with the worst case scenario IF it happens. Just writing down those three things ( 1) why you feel anxious, 2 ) worse case scenario, 3) 1-2 ways to cope) will help you feel empowered, less anxious, and more in control!
